Inauguration post : on writing at 3 am

For anyone to find themself accomplishing a task at 3 in the cold and dark morning, the motives are beforehand assumed to be linked to academia, due deadlines and exam night cramming.

That being said, and against all odds, here I am today engaging in a monologue at inconvenient hours of the night, counting the hours left on my sleep account and hoping for the best concerning my morning scheduled workout. Why am I here again ?

No academia, deadlines nor exams have called for me to mark my presence, and I am sure you don't either, you who are writing, painting, sketching and engaging in all sorts of creation that might or might not transform into something you can share with others.

What do we gain from the writing we do at 3 am, when we know for certain no one is going to be there in the morning, to read and react fervently ?

This is The Five To Nine ( or more accurately today, The five to three? ) : the road that leads nowhere but to our deepest selves. I write at 3 am because it grounds me, gives me something to call mine, something deprived of ego boosting molecules and absent from the social portfolio.

I am very happy to have found, even temporarily, a home for my inner grinder. Maybe now, can I focuse on being my good productive self during the rest of the day.
